my mom is lecturing me

i'm on skype talking to my family. it's a rare day when my mom actually takes time out to speak with me, but when she does it's always topped off with a question about my drinking (yes, we still party 2-3 times a week) and a short lecture that ends with, 'your mom says stop drinking so much! so, listen to your mom!'

she likes to refer to herself in the third person.

i usually get a cat update from my sister usually followed by some sort of threat by my mom ('chiu wei-ah. i'm gonna get rid of your cat. she won't leave me alone!') and a lengthy discussion of how work is going, and some funny story about my grandma in her senile splendor (feeding my cat litter and cat cookies, hiding her toothbrush in the closet). today the liu village was over for a bbq and so i got the family dinner noise, which was nice. i miss my big, loud, insane family.

so hopefully my sister will come out to visit me in september, and my parents might holla in october. wouldn't that be grand?!

my friends at home keep asking when i'll be back for a visit. i feel like the general consensus for expats out here is that you should travel around asia while you're out here, but i feel like i'm going to need a dose of bay area at some point.
